Welcome back to Episode 3 of my leadership series “Leading4Value”. This episode ventures out of our common comfort zones and directly applies important leadership strategies to the healthcare sector. However, the principles and concepts tackled here can be transferrable to any industry. To that end, since these are videos, you can see what the models and tools actually look like for your benefit to learn how to use them in your own journey!
We will explore the interesting concept of ‘competency models’ as leadership mindsets. An exciting thing that you will notice is that most competencies, such as visioning and team building, apply universally. The only difference is the specific behaviors under these competencies, tailored appropriately for each individual industry.
In this episode, our case study centers around community health needs improvements that actually became more visible and important after the COVID pandemic. I will share with you my screen where we unravel the practical application of a C3 model to design, develop, and deliver a vision that positively improve a community's health status.
By examining various situations including a unique application of artificial intelligence in Germany by one of Ken's colleagues and significant health initiatives to identify and treat patients far earlier when they have been diagnosed with cancer in Romania, we can strive to apply these lessons in our own communities. This involves transforming raw data into structured plans with realistic and impactful initiatives.
Our focus in this episode extends from early detection of diseases such as cancer to ensuring access to better prenatal care, with real-life scenarios as illustrative examples. The aim is to identify the gaps and work towards improving the healthcare of our own communities.
This episode serves as a guide for inspired leadership through the belief in capacity and fostering an ongoing learning environment. Substantial improvements in health services such as moving from inpatient to outpatient procedures for joint replacements can be realized with innovative leadership practices. This leadership can further uncover healthcare inequalities and help in addressing them.
To conclude, episode three is about innovative leadership strategies for community health improvement. This series aims to help leaders deliver value on target, on time, every time without fail. Remember, leadership is about transforming visions into reality and helping others see, believe, and achieve. Stay tuned for more in Episode 4!

I am often asked about what it takes to be a good leader.  My simple answer usually includes the following guidance....Always lead on the basis of "honesty" in all you say & do!  Build your team & organization on a foundation of mutual "trust"!  Encourage & be willing to let them "challenge" your thinking & ideas...it will pay huge dividends as a result!  Remember every day...when you are in your office & alone...you are "off stage"...when you step out of your office...you are "on stage"!  Behave accordingly!  Where did I learn that last bit of advice?...from my time as the "Skipper & guide down the rivers of adventure!" when I worked for Walt Disney on the Jungle Cruise! And...finally...enjoy the ride...& be sure to have some fun!...it won't last forever..so make every day a special day that counts!!
